    15X7.5" ST/STS Wheels around 10.5lbs

Would any of you pay $550 per wheel for 15X7.5" ST Wheels around 10.5lbs?

What about if they were new Volk TE37V wheels?

Reason I'm asking, I might be able to get these made by Rays if there is enough interest. They could also make any width up to 10" in the same wheel.

    *Update*

    949 Racing has a special deal on the 15x7.5 TE37, 4x100 +43  11.1 lb, bronze.
$1880/set shipped anywhere in the lower 48 states. These are pre-paid special order only, no returns. 12 available in the US for immediate shipment as of today. This very rare wheel will sell out quickly.

For those of you that remember the discontinued 15x7.5 +43 SSR Type-C, these are about a pound heavier but easily twice as strong.

Nope I'd rather get the Volk RE30 which is lighter and slightly cheaper at around $450 per wheel... but then again I'd rather wait to find a set of 15x7.5" SSR's for pennies on the dollar compared to new volks... and I did.

Not a chance in hell. But, I already have a set.

If I were to spend the cash for a light weight set of 15x7.5 wheels, I'd just wait for 949 Racing to release theirs. They will be about a lb heavier(alledgedly) and be about half the price. And, since I can't currently tell the difference between my 13.7lb Slipstreams and my 10lb Volks on the autocross course, I see spending $2k on a set of wheels as a waste of money.

At my level of competitiveness, I try to buy along the lines of $550 for four wheels.

This is because we are Parsimonious Racing

We might not be fast, but we're not going broke either

No way I would pay that much per wheel.

I have my 15x7.5 Volk TE37 wheels, and and quite happy with them.

Also, I read that the V in TE37V stands for vintage, and the wheels come in low offsets:

    Re: 15X7.5" ST/STS Wheels around 10.5lbs

Lightweight wheels are cool. I'd love a set. That said, we aren't trying to make our cars cool, were trying to make them fast. I can think of a bunch of ways to spend $2200 that would make my car way faster than dropping a few pounds of unsprung weight. If I had $15K to throw at my car, then maybe, but if I had $15K to throw at my car, I might try to do a budget CSP car.

    Re: 15X7.5" ST/STS Wheels around 10.5lbs

MSRP is $550/wheel.  I'd hope someone on a GB would do them for under $500/wheel.

But...what are the chances these things will come in a offset that'll work on a FWD car?  They appear to be geared toward RWD cars only.

What Brian said. I'm pretty happy with my 15x7.5 TEs

If someone wants to pay me $550/ea for them though.... I might be OK with that.

Why can't this ever happen to me?  Frequent searching turns up nothing.  Any search suggestions?  I'm all ears and eyes.Confused

The benefit of light weight wheels may be in the "noise" but I'm willing to believe it is not zero.  It would be hard for most to detect say <0.5% in the car but what is that worth?  A sophisicated simulation may be able to quantify the value.  Imperfect driving costs a lot more than heavy wheels though, no doubt.  I'd pay something for percieved benefit, say 0.25%, but probably not $550 per wheel.  I like the 6UL idea, assuming they happen in time.

Can anyone link me to the RE30 Volks in 15 X 7.5?  I don't find them.

     Thanks.

Because it rarely happens that a set of SSR's in 15x7.5 4x100 comes up for sale, and when they do--most folks know what they have.  "Sclippy96" got rather lucky with his find, I'd venture to say.  Heck, last time I saw a set of those wheels come up for sale used, they were as much as I paid for them new back in 2003.

Re: 15X7.5" ST Wheels around 10.5lbs

$550 was MSRP, so yeah they would most likely be sold cheaper. But after getting the quote from Rays they could only do a max offset of +20 for the TE37V, so they wouldn't work anyway for Miata or Civics.

I did talk to them about the TE37 and I'm working with a customer of mine to get 3 sets of Bronze 15X7.5, 4X100, +42 at a deal... my customer being a shop that you all know. If this happens I'll let you all know who has them for sale and what the price is.

I'm doing this because I know there isn't much out there for lightweight 15X7.5" wheels and I'm looking for a set myself. I work for a very large distribution center so I have direct contact with a lot of manufacturers. I figured I'ld help everyone else out while I'm looking.

My bad, the RE30 only come in the 15x7" size, but I believe they are lighter than RPF1's in the same size, plus you can get them in +48 high offset which shaves the most material from the hub face, and tucks the tire in as narrow as it can go... they would probably be plenty wide to support the prefered 195 toyo.
