Protest claims "aero advantage" contrary to the intent statement in the bodywork allowance.

    Spoiler, not wing.

Just give it 24 hours before debating it in the court of public opinion.    Should have an official decision by then.

The owner, probably middle aged man wearing a track suit with a large gold chain around his neck, claims it is a performance enhancing modification but we all know he just likes the way it looks.

The protest was resolved and the wing was deemed legal, here is a picture of it on my car, it is currently on our white car number 192/92... here is a picture of it from earlier this year.

I'll have more to say about this when I get home, but for now the PC took no action, which was the best decision, IMHO.

One less thing to worry about tomorrow.

I would like to see a 94 up Miata win it. I always thought they were better than the earlier ones for various reasons.

Hey! How do those Hankooks work in the cold and or wet? Do they need lots of heat? Stiff sidewalls or mushy?

Yeah, that may be true (one less thing to worry about tomorrow), but is it normal to protest after day one for something like that? Is it more normal to point it out beforehand? It isn't like the car hadn't been on the practice course or in the paddock, if someone had a problem, seems like the whole situation could have been avoided (?)

There's that, but some people think that the documentation process vets the rules in a way that casual/informal discussion does not. It also creates precedent for particularly controversial or liberally interpreted rules that the PC may or may not use on future decisions. This rule has always garnered some interesting speculation in ST and it may not be the end of the saga, as Rick's post seems to suggest.

Re: Who knows anything about the spoiler protest in STS?

    Matt.....

    Is this spoiler adjustable?

Did you install it because it looked cool or because there was some noticeable difference in handling?

What make and model is it?

I dont see how the PC had any choice but to deem it legal as they have no way to prove it not legal unless it didnt meet the 5sq ft rule.

What other methodology could have been used to prove it illegal given the rules the way they're written?
